Learning Objectives

By the end of the SAT Prep course, students will be able to:

1. Advanced Reading and Comprehension

  • Analyze complex texts (fiction, science, social science, history) to identify the main idea, author's tone, and purpose.
  • Synthesize information from multiple passages to compare, contrast, and integrate arguments.
  • Determine the meaning of words and phrases within the context of the reading passage.
  • Make accurate inferences and draw well-supported conclusions from textual evidence.

2. Rhetorical and Grammar Skills (Writing)

  • Identify and correct grammatical errors (e.g., subject-verb agreement, pronoun usage, parallelism, misplaced modifiers) to ensure clear and standard written English.
  • Improve sentence and paragraph structure to enhance clarity, conciseness, and effectiveness of expression.
  • Develop and support a strong thesis (point of view) in an essay response, organizing ideas logically and using evidence effectively.
  • Demonstrate a wide and varied vocabulary appropriate for college-level communication.

3. Quantitative Reasoning and Problem-Solving (Mathematics)

  • Apply fundamental mathematical concepts across Arithmetic (Number Theory, sequences), Algebra (equations, inequalities, functions), and Geometry (coordinate geometry, triangles, circles).
  • Translate word problems into mathematical equations and solve them accurately.
  • Utilize algebraic manipulation and geometric theorems to solve non-routine problems.
  • Interpret and analyze data presented in charts, graphs, and statistical measures (mean, median, mode) to solve problems in Data Interpretation and Statistics.
  • Employ time-saving strategies and estimation techniques to maximize efficiency during the test.
